Where is chain link allowed in Stockton?
Stockton is stricter than many cities here. Its Development Code (section 16.48.070) prohibits chain link in residential districts and for residential uses in other districts. In commercial and industrial districts it is allowed, but it must be vinyl-coated and kept at least 10 feet back from a front or street-side property line. That is why we offer chain link mainly for commercial, industrial and farm properties, not city homes. Full detail: can you have a chain link fence in Stockton?
What commercial fencing do you install?
- Vinyl-coated chain link in black or green for yards, lots and storage areas.
- Privacy slats to screen equipment and materials from view.
- Ornamental steel for storefronts and street-facing frontages.
- Swing and cantilever slide gates for truck access, with automatic openers on request.
- Farm-site chain link around pump stations, shops and equipment yards on agricultural land.
Can I put barbed wire on top?
Only in limited cases. Stockton's code bans barbed and razor wire in residential districts and next to public rights-of-way in commercial and industrial districts. Where it is allowed, it must sit at least 7 feet above the ground and stay out of view from the adjacent street. Electrified fencing is limited to certain zones and requires several city permits.
What does commercial chain link cost?
Published ranges, as of October 2026, put installed chain link at about $10 to $30 per linear foot. Taller fabric, heavier posts, vinyl coating, slats and commercial gates add to that. Commercial work is priced per site in a written quote.
Need it to look better from the street?
Use ornamental steel or aluminum on the frontage and coated chain link behind the building. You get a clean street face without paying ornamental prices on every foot.
